The most rewarding part of my experience has been working with the local women, who embraced me into their homes and culture. Kindness runs deep in this country and I’ve noticed it everyday. At times, it’s in the form of women welcoming me on the bus ride, to small children ensuring I get a seat, to any number of people who greet me on my way to the site. The people have given me so much during my stay here and I think I’ve been able to give a bit back through teaching my English class. I didn’t expect to be teaching English and had no idea how to do it, but the women showed up for class everyday and put forth their best effort. That kind of dedication in spite of their busy lives is why I wanted to come to Nepal.
