An enchanting land in need of support Nepal is a beautiful country that is both geographically and ethnically diverse. It is home to the breath-taking Himalayas, tropical jungles, and exquisite temples offering an unrivaled and unforgettable experience. Unfortunately it is also one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world with 82% of the population surviving on less than 2USD per day. Poor education, literacy, health, and general sanitation are a harsh reality for these people as well as facing gender and social discrimination and inequality on a daily basis. But we can make a difference with your help and support to gradually bring economic stability and empowerment to the people who need it most.
Improving the lives of Nepali people VIN are a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) striving to improve the lives of the Nepali people. Our mission is to empower marginalised communities, with a focus on the women and children, through enhanced educational programs and whole community training to promote equality, economic well being and basic human rights. Our activities focus on the following key projects:
Women’s Empowerment -Helping make women self-reliant and creating opportunities for education, income generation, and improving health and sanitation.
Children’s Development -Assisting disadvantaged community children, as well as conflict victims and orphans, through initiatives such as children’s clubs, sponsorships and much more.
Youth Development -Supporting youths to develop life skills and career direction with language programs, volunteering opportunities and youth clubs.
Teacher Development -Providing community school teachers with the skills necessary to create child-friendly teaching and learning activities and environments.
The Community Health Program -Promoting individual and community hygiene and sanitation, and assisting a community health post.
Monastery and Nunnery Placements -Providing young Buddhist monks and nuns with the invaluable opportunity to learn conversational English from international volunteers, in addition to participating in creative activities and developing life skills.
A rewarding experience: We strive to provide the most competitive and affordable volunteering experiences in Nepal. So don’t just help the community, become part of it. VIN deploys its volunteers in its own community projects, staying with host families within the same community, where you can see for yourself how your efforts make a direct and positive impact on the community development. You’ll benefit from being totally immersed in the rich and diverse culture and you’ll enjoy the warmth and friendliness of the Nepali people. In return we expect from our volunteers a willingness to get involved, abundant energy, flexibility and enthusiasm to help out wherever you can.
Join us and make a difference Whether you are an international volunteer; from Nepal itself, or an organisation that shares our overriding desire to end poverty and increase the quality of life in the developing world, we’d love to hear from you and to include you in our initiatives. You can truly make a difference by assisting in the development and empowerment of some of Nepal’s poorest and most disadvantaged communities.
